Cousins

Elaine has 2 cousins who were born within about 5 weeks after her birth day!

Henry Johnson Mott was born on July 30.

And Orva Johnson Gibb was born on August 15.

Here are some pics of Orva and Elaine. Joanne, we'll have to get triplet pictures, with Henry included, at sisters. Laura, do you recognize the twinner dresses? We had to stuff Elaine into hers. I think she looks like she could carry Orva around! The difference 5 weeks can make!

Faces

Laney makes some pretty funny faces . . .

Spike

She hadn't had a bath for a few days, and I had some fun with her semi-greasy hair.

Jessie is Married

Mike's sister, Jessie, got married yesterday to Danny Mckinley. They were married in the Manti Temple. The girls played outside with Alli, Brian, Cami during the sealing. There was a luncheon at the Manti House afterwards, and a reception last night at Grandma and Gramps' house. Everything was beautiful!

Mariah loved dancing to the music at the reception.

"Suhgirt" (Skirt)

Liza, I believe this skirt originated at your house as jeans? And then I believe, Joanne, you cut them off into sparkly-fun cutoffs? Well, Mariah enjoyed wearing one pant leg as a "suhgirt." She walked around and played in it for quite a while. Mom and I laughed pretty hard. (For those who aren't familiar with the original pants, they had glitter down the sides of the legs and across the bottom hem).

Miracle

Some of you know I lost the diamond from my wedding ring a couple months ago. I was so so sad, but Goldsmith Jewelers was fabulous and replaced the diamond at no cost, with their apologies for it having fallen out. Well, the diamond is less than 1/10 karat, so I really had no hopes of finding it, but we had prayed and searched everywhere we could think of.

Last Wednesday, I found it. And you'll never guess where. It was sitting nicely on the kitchen table! Yes, I'm still baffled. I was cleaning in preparation for a bridal shower for Mike's sister, Jessie. I had had some cleaning supplies and rags on and off the table throughout the morning. The only thing I can figure is that it was somehow in my rag bin and came out with a rag. I still cannot believe it. The thing is so dang small!

Words and More

Life has been so busy lately; I'm finally stealing a few minutes to update. Here are some pictures of my girls . . . .

Elaine started smiling and cooing a week ago. She is growing up fast! Mariah is also growing up. Her favorite things to say lately are, "Nigh!" ("nice")(example: "Mariah, who gave you those pajamas?" "Baba (grandma). Nigh!"). "Big meh" ("big mess"). "Wow!" and "New" (new toys, new pajamas, new tractor, new diaper, etc.).

Faffy Sticker?

We had a sad thing happen to our Fancy Nancy book. I was in the shower the other day and heard something rip. I peaked out, and Mariah was holding a piece of a Fancy Nancy page. She was saying, "sticker." We don't know how she ripped a piece out of the middle of the page; nor do we know why she thought it was a sticker. Maybe she liked all the fancy things in Nancy's hair and wanted to make a sticker? Anyway . . . what's the best kind of tape to fix books?

Ready for Church

These photos document Elaine's first 2 weeks at church.
(Today was her 3rd).

Fancy Nancy

Mariah's favorite book right now is Fancy Nancy. (She calls it "Faffy"). She too loves to be fancy.

Dreaming of Something Good . . . .

Laney smiles a lot in her sleep. (She's really sleeping in these pictures, even though her eyes are slightly open). She has also smiled a couple of times on purpose when she's awake.

"Chalk Chalk"

Mariah loves to draw with sidewalk chalk. She often requests to go outside and draw with "chalk chalk." Her favorite things to draw are cats, dogs, and flowers. She picks a color, tells me what color it is (she's right some of the time), and says what she's drawing. She also likes me to draw all of those things.

Girl on the Go

I thought these pictures of Mariah were especially cute. I told her we were going to the store. She immediately went and found this diaper bag and headed out the door. She dragged the bag all the way to the car and insisted on taking her "pur" to WalMart.

Day at the Park

We walk to the park almost daily. On this particular day, Mariah picked a morning glory flower when we first got there and carried it with her the rest of the time. The flower was wilted within moments, but Mariah didn't care. Elaine spends our park time napping in the Phil&Teds stroller (which I love, by the way--definitely worth the investment for anyone looking for a double stroller).
